Believe it or not, the better part of a year has gone by without an update. Was a busy year without much progress on the modules but some recent show activities have spurred me on to pick up the modeling tools and get back to work.
Yes, its been quite some time since an update on this module. These four photos were taken at the WGH on Tour Show in Portland, before which I did spend some time making some progress within the canyon and I even started to build up structures for the winery.
Some progress has been made in the canyon ... all of the rock work has had its color treatment and some of the plantings are starting to appear along the slopes. Still haven't started to address the canyon floor where ultimately a river will exist.
Very early on I indicated that our module group decided that we would support two different height standards for operating our layout. The photo to the right shows our first actual use of our lower alternate height of 35 inches.
Here is a view of the CZM module setup at the recent train show in Monroe, Washington. This particular set up wasn't our longest version since we had substituted a shorter 2 foot end module (far end of this view) for the 6.5 foot monster that usually fills that role.
Here we go ... now we are making some real progress on another side of the module. This is a view into the cut with its retaining fences holding back lots of loose rock.
The module has progressed significantly on the landscaping side of things. Most notably, the tree count has gone up significantly with the addition of at least 200+ custom trees made using a technique taught to us by a fellow CZM member (Loren S.).
So now I'm really guilty of jumping forward in time, to mid-November no less ... it's the third public showing of this module (seen in the foreground). The event is the GW&ATS in Vancouver, Washington, USA and ...
