Making trees

Shown here is a series of trees at various stages of the tree making process.  Basically, the trees are made of twisted florist wire with natural twine threads twisted into the trunk to make a form of bottlebrush.  The bottlebrush is then trimmed to shape the tree, spray painted to get the trunk and branch colors, and then foliage is added using spray adhesives.  This is an oversimplification of the process but you probably get the idea.

What do you use to twist the trunks, you ask?  Power tools of course!  I've been using a battery-powered drill with the bent wire inserted into the chuck and twisting the wire by running the drill with the loose ends of the wire held in place using a set of pliers.  Sounds fun, right?  Before you go running out to get materials and start making trees, be advised that it takes roughly five minutes to make a single average tree ... that works out to over 8 hours for 100 trees!
