Its now mid-September and the first public showing is done without a hitch, now its time to get moving on this module. At left you can see that I've added the first set of rock formations, made using Hydrocal and purchased rubber molds, along this side of the mountain. I've added Mold-a-Scene (a plaster mixed with oatmeal sort of stuff) to work in the rock outcroppings such that they are seamlessly part of the ground. Colorizing the rocks with various color pigments to try to get a natural look is actually a fun part of the process.
The first portal is glued in place and you might have noticed from the last picture (above) and this one that I've attempted to add plaster cloth seams that are better matched to fill the gap. The somewhat out-of-focused picture below shows the seam material extending up from the lower half such that the upper half sit inside of this seam to be held in place.
This seam solution looks certainly better than the original gap but I'm still hoping that the scenic materials to be added will do an even better job of hiding the separation.
