At this point, working on this a bit each weekend and slowly making progress.
Still just mostly foam and plaster cloth plus some earth coloring just to tone down the white plaster - coloring at this point really doesn’t matter since it will likely be covered up with other scenic materials but I do it anyway just for fun and a bit of visualization during the process.
I’ve painted the backdrop by starting with a grey primer layer followed by a blue/white blend to create the sky blue that you see here. Also, I started to add some Woodland Scenic’s Mold-A-Scene plaster over the plaster cloth in some areas. This will look quite rough initially but over time, the additional layers of materials will refine the look. Some of the roughness will be retained in areas where it gives the impression of being rocky.
