A trestle bridge deck

Spent a day constructing the deck for the trestle bridge by creating a template and then laminating lengths of “lumber” together to form the deck.

Used a 200 mm radius piece of sectional track to establish the curved portion of the planned bridge and then marked out on a piece of foam the center line for the deck. Now I began the build starting with a center spline consisting of two full length pieces of wood separated by spacers placed at 14 foot intervals - 14 feet being the planned spacing of the support bents that will be holding up the deck.

Following establishing the center beams, subsequent pieces of wood are “laminated’ on each side of the center beam - when all was said and done, the completed deck ended up with four lengths of wood on each side of the center line.

This is just the basic deck without any of the detail yet to come once the track is in place, include side rails that the track will sit within and hopefully a set of fire barrel decks (complete with hand railings for the safety of the linemen that may have to deal with a fire. This deck is just over 70 scale feet above the canyon ground level.
