Slowly but surely, I'm making my way through the process of installing all of the turnout controls. With NTS 2015 on the not-so-distant horizon, need to complete this task and move on to completing the track wiring for a truly functional module.
Seen here to the left are the six yard turnouts that reside closest to the backdrop. All of these are finally cabled up and lead off to the panel seen in the image below.
It is starting to look rather busy and I'm thinking now that I'll eventually have to add a something to cover the underside of the module to protect all of the controls from damage during transport.
Please note that the knobs of the cable controls are not completely built up, only the first two layers of the four-layer assembly are installed. The remaining layers give the knob a finished look.
With these now fully installed, I'm fairly comfortable with the overall process. I'm finding that the controls tend to work well although the cables do present a bit of resistance when pushing them in from the extended position - no issues but it seems out of proportion to the actual movement of those little points on a Z-scale turnout :o).
