Can't have a winery without a source of wine grapes. The Canyon Top Vineyards finally get planted in a plot that has been cultivated along the canyon edge and is reinforced by a retaining wall.
In this initial planting area, there will be four rows of grapes with each row developed and maintained with two levels (upper and lower) of branches. This is actually modeled after a real local vineyard that used this technique to maximize the exposure for the grapes in a vineyard that had limited area.
The supports for the vines was constructed using stiff bare wire as posts (painted to better resemble wood) with much thinner wire strung horizontally at two levels for support lines. The vines are planted midway between each pair of posts and the branches trained to follow along the two levels of support lines. The individual vines are made with natural sisal twine strands and foliage is using Woodland Scenics course turf material.
Seen here is the completed vineyard with a couple of extra short rows seen added to the left.
Update (2015): And below is a view that was added to this posting that gives a broader perspective of the overall vineyard with winery and owner residence.
