Started working on the water surface above the upper falls. Here you can see the result after an initial pour of the Magic Water resin over a pre-stained river surface. Being a highly reflective surface, the photo isn't the best at capturing the real look.
I found that the resin liked to creep up the sides of the river onto/into the earth surfaces and this led to a lot of "wet" edges - I suppose an active flowing river might keep its shoreline a bit damp. I figure that later during the detailing of the landscape, I ought to be able to cover up offending edges as needed to minimize the impact.
A view from the other side. Again, this is before doing anything to "fix" the edges and also I intend to add a white-water effect over and near the base of the falls.
Adding a whitewash on top really starts to make this look more real. The whitewash was created from diluting an acrylic white paint and lightly brushing it on, stippling the river surface with the brush relatively dry.
