Building up mountains

Some progress made "above" ground ... here you can see the installed bridge mounted above two stone abutments ... both held in place with some strategically placed hot glue.  Two layers of foam above ground level are permanently attached and some portions are seen here with an initial layer of plaster cloth.  Starting with the third layer above ground level, the foam will combined with higher layers of foam to create a removal cap ... the intent here being that the higher level scenery is removed when the module is being transported so that they will not be damaged for making the module too tall.

At this point I've not started with the rock work.  Some of the "steps" that appear in the canyon area will actually be used as support shelves for rock structures that are to be added, after which it shouldn't have that stepped appearance.

Here is a view in the opposite direction.  The removable base (third-layer of foam) is clearly seen here before any final trimming.  Also, the tunnel is still to be properly cut, including the addition of a curved overhead portion.  The tunnel on the other side is done and both tunnels have already been ballasted.  With the removable bases removed, the two tunnels will be accessible by removing ceiling inserts so that track maintenance and emergency access is possible.

I'm still uncertain as to how tall I will be able to make the mountain peaks but I'm hoping to get at least another couple of layers of foam higher than what is shown here.  The plastered area appearing to the left will likely be used for some sort of farm or rural industry ... I'm leaning toward maybe making a winery but I'm a little concerned about how to model a whole hillside of grape vines!
