After acquiring more track of various radii, I was now able to complete the track redesign.
I tried to keep the curves as large as possibly within the existing foundation, including liberal use of some 490 mm radii sections in sections where long straight sections would look out of place. After all, this layout will ultimately be meandering up and down twisting grades with plenty of scenic spots along the way.
What I haven’t added just yet is a siding in the shelf section along the wall but that will eventually get installed so that I can at least have two trains staged for runs on the layout.
There remain two industry sidings, one on each side of the layout … the original plan to include a lumber mill remains and the second industry located on the opposite side will presumably compliment this. And yes, that is the same lumber mill that I started building in back in 2006 when this layout was last being worked - at one point, this mill was destined to be moved to the Forest End Module but those plans changed when I decided to go with a much larger mill on the module - so the small mill is back where it first started.
You probably have noticed some tunnel portals placed around the route … at this point, these are being used to visualize potential locations and are likely to be adjusted when I add some of the land forms. I have started adjusting the landscape with the insulation foam seen added here and remember that this revised layout is eliminating the hidden industry connecting track that you can still see a hint of with the remnant of white grade foam being buried by the new pink foam foundation.
