The yard turnout controls get covered up

When not in use, the turnout controls for the freight yard need to be hidden from view.  To accomplish this, a hinged cover that will later be disguised with some form of scenery is installed.

Three hinges were used to assure that the lid is firmly held and I intend to have a magnet attached to the upper portion of the middle hinge as a way to "lock" the lid up when access to the controls is desired.

With the lid up, access to the controls will be a tight squeeze but I didn't want to take up too much area for the controls.

Not sure yet what scenic approach to take with the lid and the back side of the retaining wall. I was thinking about possibly having a road run length-wise along this portion of the yard, entering along the edge of the layout, crossing over the other mainline as seen above in the distance.
